In business, as in our personal lives, great relationships are vital for our success. In our personal life those strong relationships mean that we know that our friends and family will be there when we need a shoulder to lean on and someone to listen.

In business these strong relationships mean that we have partners that we respect and trust. And they feel the same toward us. Strong business relationships are crucial when you are asking for deadline extensions or special arrangements to meet the needs of a demanding client.

Global Marketing Solutions is fortunate to work with many great companies and more important, with many wonderful people who make those companies what they are.

We would like to extend a special thanks to our friends at Interstate Printing. Larry, Tracey and Keith have been tremendous to work with over the years. They have helped us meet rushed deadlines so that we could deliver for our clients. They have worked with us to find the right printing solution to stay within our budget for any given project. We appreciate this great relationship.

The Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) recently became the first destination marketing organization (DMO) from the state of Alabama to be accredited by the

Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP). The Alabama Gulf Coast CVB joins a limited number - that will near 100 by the end of 2008 - of other accredited organizations throughout the nation and nearly 30 other countries.

“Words cannot express how much this accreditation means to us,” said Herb Malone, president/CEO of the CVB. “I would like to thank every staff member for his or her hard work, diligence and excellent performance. In addition to the work of these skilled professionals, this mark of excellence would not have been possible without the leadership and accountability of our board of directors.”

It is easy to get in a rush and forget to recognize those who help you through each day. We encourage you to say thank you more often and to strive to be the kind of partner that others will respect and trust. Build those great relationships now and they will be there to help you through a challenging time.

Earlier this month April and Laura attended the Alabama Governor's Conference on Tourism, held at the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham. We enjoyed seeing many of our long-time tourism friends and meeting some new ones.

April was invited to lead a discussion on Fighting Transportation Woes to Keep Visitors Coming. The workshop was presented twice and both sessions received good attendance.

Many destinations, accommodations and attractions around the state were hit hard with this year's rising fuel prices. The discussion allowed us to share ideas and learn from each other. Click here for our

workshop notes and a collection of news articles related to the topic.

Laura celebrated a milestone birthday this month and in recognition of that, here's a look back at this month in music history.

In 1988 Guns 'n' Roses were riding high with the mega album "Appetite for Destruction."

For 1978 the top album this month was the "Grease" soundtrack.

And in 1968 Steppenwolf debuted their first album "Born to be Wild."
