When did we reach a point where we not only expect to have poor customer service, but we accept it as normal?

We've all had the experience of being in a store or restaurant and having bad customer service. Sometimes it is clerks who would rather gossip with each other about last night's date than pay attention to you. Other times it is a waiter who seems to vanish from the building until it is time to bring the check.

Let's face it - none of us really have a truly unique product. Our customers can get very similar accommodations from another company. They can get a meal at another restaurant. They can shop at another store. All we really have that sets us apart from the others is our ability to make the customer feel special, to feel wanted and respected.

At Global Marketing Solutions, we believe great customer service is the foundation required to accomplish great results for your top and bottom lines. We approach our marketing strategies for each client with your unique structure and identity in mind, and help you find ways to excel. Make yourself memorable--in a positive way--with superb customer service. We can help you get there with small steps and large, quickly and over time, to help you stand out in the crowd.

And speaking of radio
Anyone who does radio advertising these days knows that commercial, land-based radio stations have taken a pretty good hit from satellite radio options like XM and Sirius. Consumers like the wide selection of music genres and the lack of commercials.

Well, satellite radio isn't entirely commercial free. Stations like XM's broadcast of news channels from CNN, ABC and Fox include commercial breaks at the same time that the TV broadcasts have their commercials. But the TV spots are not heard on the XM broadcast. XM sells advertising on these radio spots.

Additional advertising and sponsorship opportunities are available on sports and seasonal channels and on the 24 city channels for weather and traffic. At this time XM is selling the weather and traffic channels as one buy across all the markets; individual markets are not available. If you have a product that makes sense for all or most of the 24 weather and traffic markets, this is an option that deserves a closer look.

Tourism Takes Over the Airwaves
Tapping into the state's great musical heritage, the official Mississippi tourism website,

www.visitMississippi.org, now has an online radio station. The station, marketed as "Tune in Mississippi," is available 24 hours a day from the home page of the website. The station features music by Mississippi artists or about Mississippi.

In Tuscaloosa, the CVB has taken the radio concept to another level. 103.3FM is a local low-frequency radio station that provides information to visitors. Local news, weather and traffic are nothing new in the world of radio. But 103.3 is owned and operated by the CVB, making it unique in Alabama. The station is also available online at

www.tcvb.org.

  Don't Forget the Cranberries
The Thanksgiving table just isn't complete without cranberries and they provide a healthy addition to the holiday menu. Cranberries are loaded with antioxidants and other phytonutrients that can help protect your body against heart disease, cancer and other diseases.

And in case you need some trivial information to impress your family, consider this: Cranberries are not grown in water. The water is used only in the harvesting, when the beds are flooded so that the cranberries float to the top and are easier to harvest.
