The Friends of the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge

A group of citizens from all over the United States has banded together to form a Friends support group. Many members are out of state residents who winter on the Gulf. The organization functions primarily as an advocacy group, making telephone calls and writing letters as needed. It also functions as a non-profit private organization to accept donations and land to improve the refuge and to increase wildlife habitat.

Share the Beach

Our beaches are very popular. Visitors from near and far enjoy them year-round. And some of those visitors may surprise you. 

From May through October each year we share our beach with dozens of momma sea turtles. These endangered animals are looking for a safe place to make a nest where their babies can hatch, then find their way safely into the warm Gulf waters. 

Thousands of hatchlings take their first steps right here on our shores each year. Many of them need a helping hand to reach the water. The many volunteers of the Share the Beach program give them just that.

Wolf Bay Watershed Watch

Wolf Bay Watershed Watch (WBWW) is a grassroots citizen's advocacy organization whose mission is to protect and preserve the natural resources of the Wolf Bay Watershed in Baldwin County, Alabama.

Weeks Bay Foundation

This non-profit membership organization supports the Weeks Bay Reserve through donations of educational exhibits and land, public awareness and education programs, water quality monitoring efforts, volunteer programs and much, much more.
